On Sunday, July 8, 2001 strong thunderstorms brought about a massive flood that affected nearly the entire Free State of McDowell. Several hundred homes & businesses were destroyed as a result of this wrath of nature. Currently several organizations are working to rebuild what was damaged & destroyed. On this site you will be able to obtain information about the July 8 flood along with viewing photos and finding links to other websites related to the flood.
